After my intial research I started to broaden my search on wildlife and looked in depth at birds and butterflies, I felt this was an exciting idea as the two are opposite to one another, butterflies are fragile and colour where as birds I feel are robust and protective and almost quite vicious. I want to explore more into this idea of birds being protective and almost dark and edgy with lots of layers. I started to draw from my images zooming in on areas to find some exciting patterns.
I feel these drawings have a dark feel to them, they portray the idea of the bird being almost dangerous and unknown. As if they are hidding something. I likehow expressive the drawings are. I plan to draw on larger scale to create different effects and be more loose and expressive.

The birds- Hitchcock
After a tutorial I was advised to watch ' The Birds ' one of Hitchcok's films. I researched into it and watched a clip from the film. The portryal of the birds in this film linked into the way I want to portray birds in my own practice. Dark and edgy and dangerous. Almost being scary.

Wildlife in Fashion/costume
Portrayal of wildlife in fashion and costume. Looking at shape, colour and texture.
Black Swan-
Milo Liren- Giant bird skull-
I feel these designs have an edgy, dark feel to them which I find interesting as the photographs I have taken are full of natural colour and textures. There is a huge constrats between these images and my own. I have explored two different portrayal of birds in these designs, black swan being more about feathers and protection and comfort, the other being about a part of the body, the birds head.

Competitions
As this is the locating unit, entering competitions to get work "out there” is important. There are several I like the idea of:
- Bradford textile society as it involves a specialist in knit.

- Urban Outiftters
- Bench

For each of these competitions I plan on exploring a similar idea in all 3 of them, the theme of
"life".

Natural Textures/Colours
Starting on from the new brief intentions, I liked the idea of looking into wildlife and natural texture. This came from the last brief as I then looked at the natural environment. I enjoy working with the concept of nature so have tried to find different ways to communicate it through art practice.
I have started to look into wildlife..
I love the natural colour portrayed within wildlife, it really is beautiful.I find it exciting and interesting, it's colour we really take for granted and don't notice."Looking at things differently" or "Bringing the wildlife, to life"
