After being inspired by the colour blind photographs I started to think about how colour is used in the natural environment and how we almost take it for granted.
Looking at the colours in landscapes and natural scenes made me appreciate natural colour more. I started to see it differently.
Taking photographs helped me capture these beautiful scenes and really build up textures and colours to interpret into my pratice.
From these photos I started to do some sketches and colour wraps:

Colour assosiation
I found the idea of colour blindness an interesting concept to look into.
On my search I found some exciting and fascinating things.
I came across photographers Carolina Valtuille and Dominic Kraner’s work. They did a project with looked at colour through the eyes of someone colour blind.
I found these images fascinating; the colours in them are so textural and make them seem much more appealing. Most of the photographs are taken of the natural environment which I found interesting as it is something we see every day and almost ignore the beauty of it. As the colours have been manipulated in these photographs they make the environment feel more appealing and interesting.
Pulling colour out from the images to start thinking about colour assosiation.
Starting to think about textures and colours from the natural environment photographs.
After experimenting with the idea of colour blindness I kind of took another direction with my project. I started to think about how I could portray this idea of colour blindness into my practice. I liked the inital idea of the photographs being environmental so decided to look at landscapes and the natural environment thinking about colour invovled and seeing things differently.

3D effects
I felt my knits had a 3D feel to them so started to look into 3D effects and optical illusions.
I started trying to incorporate this idea of optical illusion and 3D effects into my knit.
I don't feel these knits work as well as I thought they would so I have decided to go in another direction and look into manipulating colour staying true to my whole theme of colour assosiation but interpreting it in another way.
I like the idea of looking into colour blindness and really love the idea of looking through the eyes of someone colour blind and how that would change what you see. I find it exciting and interesting.

Colour symbolism
I started to look into colour symbolism and how feelings and emotions can be portrayed through colour. Ive looked at how it's used on buildings and public places so decided to start looking at it within interior. I like the idea of creating a mood or emotion using knit and colour.
I also started to look into colour clashes and how colour looks different agaisnt other colours.
With the colour clash idea I started to produce knits and layer them on top of eachother to see what effect it created with the different colours.

Intentional colour
After the influences/inspirations task I started to think more deeply into colour and what it is I actually want to explore within colour.
I briefly looked into colour therapy and why/how colour is used in particular ways.
I was also interested in how public places such as medical centers i.e hospitals, dentists etc use a specific colour pallet for a particular purpose, in this case to keep the public calm and relaxed.I like the idea of colour being used to manipulate how people feel.
This spiraled of a lot of ideas about how colour changes mood and emotions.
I started to think about how colour is used in everyday situations...

All these examples express something through colour.

Influences and Inspiration
Following on from the summer project I started to look at who I am actually influenced by and what my inspirations really are. I
love working with colour and felt like I wanted to explore it further.
Throughout the summer I looked at colour in everyday situations and in natural environments
such as flowers, buildings etc.
These are the boards I created for the inspirations/influences task. I feel like they show my real interests and what inspires me..
